網頁上也寫得很清楚。DnD設計理念是所採取的是較『物理性』的定義法:
[From WOTC -->
Some roleplaying games are abstract: you just describe what you want to do and you do it.
D&D is a little more rules-heavy than that, and some of the elementary ways to describe your character are in terms of their ability scores. How strong are they? How smart? How quick? These are represented in the game by your ability scores.]
樓上採取的則是較『虛無性』,也就是 Abstract 的定義法。而所謂歸零也是對 3E 中的 Nonability 的延伸解釋:
[From Wiki --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_mechanics_(Dungeons_&_Dragons)
There are creatures that lack certain ability scores (undead, for example, have no constitution). These are called nonabilities and affect how that creature is treated by certain spells and effects. The aforementioned undead, for example, are immune to almost anything that requires a Fortitude save, unless it can also affect objects. This is not the same as having a score of zero (which causes death, paralysis or unconsciousness depending on the ability in question). ]
