詹斐爾是二十世紀將排笛重新介紹到音樂廳和唱片中的重要提倡者，在排笛吹奏上，至今依然沒有人能超過他的地位，而他對於排笛的掌握也讓他吹奏的每一首曲子，都那麼道地而充滿溫暖的感覺。排笛的歌聲總是帶著些許的感傷，好像在與過去一年道別，而那娓婉帶著熱帶熱情和北國幽鬱的笛聲，也向來被認為是最浪漫的聲響，自從古希臘時代，人們以蘆葦串成排笛，而牧神潘更以這種樂器作為調戲戴芬的工具，這就是人類音樂史上最古老、最具有煽動情緒的樂器。
